Rough Pavement Material

I really wanted to make a type of road material to appeal to a certain studio I was applying to work at (I only finished a week or two late :) ), so I went and crafted this.
‎
While I started with more modern "melty?" asphalt from a reference photo, I ended up turning more to real life when I stepped out of my car and looked at the ground for a while. I ended up doing my best to create what I saw that day, including a parameter to control whether or not the user wanted some nice New England salt dust all over the place.
‎
When I started this project I thought the obvious choice was to make a bunch of pebble variations and scatter them as much as possible, however, I ended up with far too much free space and less uniformity than one would expect from pavement where everything gets poured and stamped down so I went with a Voronoi-based approach.
‎
A big feature that helped me sell this was regarding the paint. Once I had made the lines, I masked out the very lowest crevices assuming that paint rollers could not get in there, but it was pointed out to me that the much more significant area of interest was the peaks of the painted rocks, which would also naturally be chipped. These two features, as well as some healthy natural grunge, sold the paint as I wanted.
